Preparing Future Faculty – Spring 2020
In the Spring of 2020, the Graduate School, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Center for Teaching Excellence will offer a Preparing Future Faculty program for graduate students and postdocs. The program will run over 13 weeks, beginning January 13 and ending April 20, and will meet on Mondays from 3:30pm – 5pm. It will consist of weekly in-person meetings on the UF main campus, assignments, and an independent mentoring component.

As a result of participating in this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the important aspects of being a successful faculty member, and prepare accordingly during their training at UF
- Identify key elements of being a faculty member at different types of institutions, and craft applications materials as needed
- Describe and reflect on effective teaching and learning methods in current and future teaching responsibilities

A requirement of the program will be for participants to identify a faculty mentor (someone other than immediate advisor). Participants will be required to meet with their mentors twice monthly for the duration of the program. The program will provide participants and mentors with a list of topics to be discussed (if desired), along with activities that could enhance the quality of the interactions and the outcome of the experience.
The Preparing Future Faculty program is open to graduate students and postdocs from any department at UF. Participants will be selected on a competitive basis. You will need to provide a short answer about why you are interested in the program and upload a current CV.
Applications will be accepted electronically through this page. Participants will be accepted on rolling basis. If accepted, candidates will need to request approval from their advisor to participate in the program.
Applications for the Spring 2019 series are now closed. ADMISSION DECISIONS WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MID-DECEMBER.
