GIMS and myUFL Student Information System (SIS)
The UF-designed Graduate Information Management System (GIMS) is a storehouse for graduate data. GIMS provides a tool for graduate students, faculty and staff to upload and track information such as admissions, committee members, candidacy, theses and dissertation, graduation applications, and all important milestones.
Over the course of 2018, several functions are transitioning from GIMS to the new myUFL Student Information System (SIS). Academic units may now make changes to majors, degrees, minors, concentrations, and degree attributes via myUFL, and the changes will be synced to GIMS in approximately one hour. Frequently asked questions and known issues are listed below.
View the degree programs you have on record, and the thesis or dissertation supervisory committees assigned to you, on this convenient and easy-to-use online portal. If there are any items on your GIMS record in need of correction or updating, contact the graduate coordinator or graduate staff member in your department for help. You can also register for professional development workshops and conferences organized by the Graduate School through this portal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there any known issues in GIMS or graduate records in myUFL SIS as of right now?
A: Yes. The following issues are being addressed as part of the transition process:
- Graduate students with “No Graduate Major” listed in SIS. We will be updating these students.
- For students who have an active degree segment and one or more inactive or dropped degree segments, some of these inactive segments appear active in SIS. We will be updating these students.
If you are seeing these issues, please be patient with us for a few days as we correct these records. If you are still seeing these issues a few weeks after our January 16th go-live, please do let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with a copy to Jenn Hubbs at email@example.com.
Q: Do I need to request new access to the myUFL SIS in order to keep doing my job?
A: If you had access to GIMS on January 3, 2018, you should have equivalent access in myUFL as of the date we went live and do not need to request new access. If you gain new access now, you will receive emailed instructions on how to request equivalent access in myUFL.
