UF PhD Student Aantaki Raisa Wins at Regional 3MT Competition

University of Florida Mass Communications Doctor of Philosophy graduate student Aantaki Raisa won the People’s Choice Award in the regional Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools (CSGS) in Raleigh, North Carolina February 17-19, 2022.

One of the finalists chosen from three preliminary rounds, Raisa was voted as People’s Choice Award recipient out of the 15 participants in the final round on Saturday, February 19.

Her presentation topic was “Developing a Culturally-Grounded eHealth Intervention to Promote Colorectal Cancer Screening Among South Asian Immigrants in the United States.”

Previously, Raisa won the double distinction of first-place Winner and People’s Choice in UF’s local 3MT competition held in 2021.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a competition developed by the University of Queensland in Australia. It challenges graduate students to make a compelling presentation on their thesis topics to a non-academic audience in just three minutes. Its goal is to foster communication skills through which researchers can convey the significance of their scholarly work in popular terms to the general public.
